WPT Set for Dramatic, Season-Ending Tournament of Champions

For the second time in history the World Poker Tour will conclude its current season with an elite showdown featuring every champion from the main tour over the last 12 months and some of the best poker players in the world.

The rake-free $15,000 buy-in tournament (which is only open to previous WPT winners) kicks off April 7 and finishes up on April 9.

The competition will be fierce but players will receive some extra value in the tournament thanks to title sponsor Monster® kicking in $100k to the prize pool and a brand-new 2018 Audi S5 Coupe for the winner.

Play begins at noon local time tomorrow.

Sylvia, Sexton, Zajmovic Among TOC Contenders

This is just the second year of the WPT Tournament of Champions, which replaced the long-running WPT World Championship.

Mike Sexton will look to cap an incredible year at the WPT TOC.

Last year Morocco’s Farid Yachou outlasted 64 players, including a final table that feature Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi and Jonathan Jaffe, to take down $381,600 and a brand-new Chevy Corvette.

This season of the WPT produced a large number of high-profile winners including Mike Sexton, Jesse Sylvia, Daniel Weinman and the first-ever female winner Emo Zajmovic.

All of the aforementioned players are expected to play in the upcoming TOC as are the winners from international WPT events in Amsterdam, Montreal, Nottingham, Prague and the Caribbean.

The majority of WPT events are in the United States but there were a handful of non-US winners this year including Spaniard Luis Rodriguez Cruz, the UK’s Niall Farrell, Ukraine’s Oleg Vasylchenko and aforementioned Canadian Zajmovic.

Action Clock, Big Stacks, Bigger Prizes

The WPT Tournament of Champions features a deep structure with a 50,000 starting stack and one-hour levels.

Think fast.

The TOC also features the patented WPT Action Clock, which limits players to 30-second decisions with four 30-second extensions.

In addition to an extra $100k overlay, Monster® will also be putting up some extra prizes for players. Every member of the final table will get a Monster Superstar Ravebox speaker.

The winner will also get a pair of the flagship Rose Gold Wireless Over-Ear Element headphones and A Hublot King Power Unico Carbon and Red watch.

Every Tournament of Champion participant receives a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses.

Each winner on the WPT Main Tour received a seat in the TOC so the following winners from Season XV will likely be making an appearance in addition to one more pending winner from the ongoing Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Finale:
