Poker pro Jason Mercier who was recently playing in the 2013 World Series of Poker Europe’s Event #4 – €1,650 Pot Limit Omaha, talked about his latest prop bets with legend Phil Ivey in his podcast with PokerNews. He also made himself heard by tweeting the following regarding the prop bet with legend Phil Ivey:
Made a bunch of bets on myself in this 1500 PLO event vs @philivey First prize is €70k but if I win, I punish Phil for an extra €130k !!
– Jason Mercier (@JasonMercier) October 15, 2013
He was quoted saying,
“…We were talking a little smack back and forth and eventually Ivey offered to book me in the tournament and we negotiated a price. I had to pay €4,600 to get a 100% book of myself…”
For those of you who don’t understand what it means, here’s an explanation from pro Jason himself,
“…Whatever I’ll cash for, he’ll have to pay me that amount. So if I min-cash right now, min-cash is a little under €3,000, I will lose money on the tournament, but I had 7,200 chips from 4,500 and 1st place is €70,000 so if I bink that off, I’ll punish him for a nice little 70.”
Apart from this, legend Phil Ivey also bet on American pro David Benefield against Mercier and laid 6-5 which led Mercier to book €60,000 against €50,000. To this Mercier said,
“…So if I win the tournament I’m going to beat Ivey out of a €130,000 which is almost two times what the first place is which is pretty cool.”
With close to $10 million in lifetime poker earnings along with two WSOP bracelets in Pot Limit Omaha events, poker pro Jason Mercier final tabled this year’s WSOPE Event #4 of the €1,650 PLO event but unfortunately found himself eliminated in 4th place for €23,036. Here’s what he tweeted right after busting:
Knocked out in 4th place for 23036€. Lost a big one for half the chips in play. Going 2 register the 3k mix max PLO in a few #OnToTheNextOne

This ultimately means that poker pro Jason Mercier couldn’t collect on his €130,000 prop bet with legend Phil Ivey…4th place was close but no cigar for Jason this time round!
