In great news for the poker industry, the G2E Global Gaming Exposition in 2013 will feature a never-seen-before poker panel including speakers such as Antonio Esfandiari, Matt Glantz, Jay Farber, Jennifer Shahade and others.
“Power Poker: The Players’ View” will discuss the unique role that poker players play in today’s gaming environment and takes place on Wednesday, September 25, at 3 p.m. in the Table Games Lounge on the G2E exhibit floor. iGaming advocate and popular tweep in all things poker, Marco Valerio, will be moderating the discussion. On his Twitter handle, @AgentMarco, he said “[…] will discuss game’s uniqueness live and online. Very exciting ” and further commented, “This is historic”.
The exact impact this will have on the poker industry cannot easily be quantified, but one thing is for sure and that is that the effect will be positive. It was only several months ago that the first U.S. regulated online poker room, UltimatePoker, went live for real money in Nevada. To see the poker industry take further steps forward like this, it is crucial that people are informed about poker.
Maybe after this event, discussions about making online poker legal in the United States will go from “Is it even possible to win long-term in poker?” to “What can we do to ensure that poker websites and their owners are legitimate and accountable for their actions”.
Ambassador of the Parx Casino in Pennsylvania, 2009 EPT High Roller champion and speaker in this event, Matt Glantz, had the following to say, “I envision a partnership between every regional poker room and their resident professional poker players, so as to create a familiar, entertaining and easily accessible poker playing atmosphere.” Not surprising either when one considers the valuable contributions he has made to the continued success of the Parx Big Stax series in Pennsylvania.
Two time WPT champion and owner of three WSOP gold bracelets, Antonio Esfandiari, is also thrilled about speaking in this event and looks forward to discussing the “growing interest and increased attention” that the game of poker is receiving. 2013 Main Event November Niner, Jay Farber, will be touching up on the “growing fusion between gaming and nightlife entertainment”, something which he is well suited to do as he is not only a professional poker player but also a Las Vegas local nightlife professional. Finally, female poker pro, author and former internationally acclaimed chess champion, Jennifer Shahade, is looking forward to discuss not only the skill vs. luck aspect of poker, but also ways in which the poker culture can adapt to attract more female players.
